Dr DiPilla answers some Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How is Whiten™ different from other whitening products?

A. Dr. DiPilla: “Most of the OTC teeth whitening products only clean the surface of the tooth and that is why the results do not last. The Whiten™ system goes further and does a deep cleaning. It gets into the pores, the cracks and crevices of the tooth, and removes all of the buildup that brushing alone cannot do.”

Q. How White will my Teeth get?

A. Dr. DiPilla: “While everyone will see improvement with the Whiten™ system, your teeth will never be whiter then you are genetically predisposed to being. Other factors such as age and lifestyle habits play a role in how your teeth will whiten. For example, if you drink a lot of coffee, red wine or eat dark sauces it may take several treatments to realize your maximum results.”

Q. Should I continue to use Whiten™ after my teeth have whitened?

A. Dr. DiPilla: “Yes, you should continue to perform 1-2 treatments per week. The Whiten™ System not only whitens your teeth, but it cleans and disinfects your teeth and gum line. Whiten™ helps eliminate the bacteria that causes plaque and cavities. Adding Whiten™ to your weekly routine will help you achieve better oral health.”

Q. Will I have any sensitivity issues with the gel?

A. Dr. DiPilla: “The Whiten™ gel is specially designed to be non-sensitive. Most people will not have any sensitivity. A very small percentage of people may experience some minor sensitivity; this is normal and will diminish very quickly when the treatment is complete. However, if you experience moderate to severe sensitivity or if irritation (such as redness, swelling, soreness) of the gums or the mouth occurs, discontinue use and consult your dentist. This may be an indication that something more is going on.”
